todays update of avg (free) antivirus flags dnetc.exe on win32
(distributed.net client) as virus/trojan/proxy


anyone have the same issue? where can i report this misbehaviour? do
they actually communicate with their customers using the free edition?
can i send bugreports or feedback?

todays morning definition updates from grisoft did the mess, the newer
update just recently fixed the problem again.


to everbody posting bullshit about dnetc: get a life

dnetc is nothing harmful and legit software. and now its being regarded
as legit by grisoft/avg again too.

grisoft replied to various tech-support-requests and addimitted that the
did identify dnetc as a false positiv and were fixing it with the next
update (which they delivered by now).

doh.

Mine updated this am. at 08:00 and ran with no problems.

several boxes with avg antivirus versions reported all the same false
positive for the current dnetc.exe from

<http://http.distributed.net/pub/dcti/current-client/dnetc-win32-x86.zip>

never mind, its fixed by now with the latest grisoft virusdefintions
from a little while back.

I did a search for dnetc on my pcs, found dnetc.mcg in mcafee quarantine
folder.
I haven't used McAfee for a couple of years

I don't even know what it is.
