When I attached a document with a TOC to an email the TOC defaults to page 1
or 2 all the way through and when you Alt/Click it takes you to the correct
page. This document also displays the correct linkages when opened its only
when you attach it to an email.

This happens if the recipient opens the document in Reading Layout (Onscreen
Reading) view. There are three ways around this, none of which you can
control; you can only make suggestions:

1. Suggest that the recipient save the document to the hard drive before
opening it instead of opening it directly from the attachment. Reading
Layout view affects only documents opened from attachments.

2. If that is too much trouble, suggest that the recipient disable Reading
Layout view (Tools | Options | General).

3. If the recipient won't do either of the above, instruct the recipient to
switch from Reading Layout to Print Layout view and press F9 to update the
TOC.
