I have a document, which has been made up of various other documents. When i
try and insert TOC, it is picking up on all previous headings etc from all
the part documents. that is fine as i can correct. However from the
Available Styles: Heading 1, heading 2 and heading 3 etc have disappeared and
i need those to correctly enter the TOC. Is there any way to get these
standard headings back?

Go to Format - Style. Click on the Organizer box on the lower left. This will
bring up a new window. From this you will have two "documents" selected.
Close both of these files by selecting the "close file" box. Browse and
select on the left side a document that has the styles you want (Heading 1,
Heading 2, etc.). On the right side, browse and select the document you are
working on. You will probably have to change the "file type" when you browse
so that you pull up Word documents instead of ".doc" documents. Then from the
left side select the styles you want to place into the document on the right
side. This should put the heading styles you want back into your document.

Note that the bult-in headings can never be deleted; in other words, there
is no reason to try recreating them.

whole document across to a new Word document, the same headings disappear
again.(perhaps in part of the document, some-one previously adjusted these,
although only close things is Heading1, part. heading 2-6 don't show in any
form at all). However, I have copied and pasted page by page, ensuring that
