TOC - how get rid of extra heading text????

Guest

HI - I posted this in general questions but did not get a usable answer - I'm
running Word 2003 in XP Pro environment. When I trigger Table of Contents
creation, I get ALL the text of the selected paragraphs, NOT just the
headings. I can't edit everything by hand! HOW can I specify the heading
ONLY? Am I missing something in the TOC dialog box? Help!

thanks

See http://home.earthlink.net/~wordfaqs/RunInSidehead.htm. Note that in Word
2002/2003, you do this by applying the heading style to just the heading
portion of the paragraph (which causes Word to insert a style separator that
functions the same as the hidden paragraph mark).
