TOC Heading style 2

I am working in 2007 from someone else's doc from 2003 word. I will be
saving in 97-2003.
The styles shown in the home tab start Emphasis - Heading 1 - Normal -
Strong (and others). I am trying to insert a TOC using the built in heading
styles but I cannot see a Heading 2 or 3. How can I add the other headings
to this group - is this a special style group added by the other author?

I opened this doc in 2003 word and was able to add the heading 2 there so I
may have my answer for now.

I would still like to know what I needed to do in 2007 word to make heading
2 available. I couldn't add it because it said it was already there built in
(but I couldn't find it). Should I have gone above the built-in styles?

Use the dialog launcher at the bottom of the Styles group (or
Ctlr+Alt+Shift+S) to open the Styles task pane. If you don't see Heading 2
there, then you can click on the Manage Styles button and use the Style
Manager to change the priority or visibility of styles. Usually Word will
display the next heading level when one is used, so if you have used Heading
1, then Heading 2 is displayed; when you use Heading 2, then Heading 3 is
added, etc.

Alternatively, if you add the classic Style dropdown to the QAT, you can
still use the old trick of pressing Shift while opening the dropdown list to
force it to show *all* styles.

Ok found the other headings but they are grayed out and say
Heading 2 (Hide until used)
Heading 3 (Hide until used)
4 thru 9 same

I highlighted Heading 2 but that was all I could do. The description is:
Font: (Default) +Headings, 14 pt, Bold, Italic, Space Before: 12 pt, After:
3 pt, Keep with next, Level 2, Style: Linked, Hide until used, Quick Style,
Based on: Normal, Following style: Normal

Couldnt right click or find anything on the Edit tab or restrict tab that I
could change to allow me to use.

The Recommend tab is where you can change these properties.
