Please tell me how to simply create a TOC and index entries in a book I am
creating (up to 300pps).

I am using Word 2003 (MS Office Professional).

Please contact if you have any suggestions regarding this inquiry. Thank you.

You create a TOC by using Insert > Reference > Tables > Table of Contents.
You create an Index by using Insert > Reference > Tables > Index.

For the TOC to work, you must have set up your document using styles (the
default heading styles are simplest) or TC fields.

For the index to work you must mark the items you want to appear in the
index, either manually inserting XE fields, or using the Index dialog
mentioned above.

All explained in Help, or Google for some tutorials.
