toasted CD-R's

I only use brand names CD-Rs, like TDK, Maxell, etc.
However, I get too many burn errors with cd-rs but none
with cd-rws(even using same brand).
I end up zipping files which cause problems. Usually they have long
names or are .exe
I like to view pics on the TV but obviously cant do so if they are
zipped.
And I dont like to use cd-rws as permament long term storage media.

Thus, how reliable are cd-rws for long term storage?

If you are gettings errors something is wrong. I can't remember the last
time a CDR failed on me.

I could find articles on nist.gov .

Now that drives are $50 a piece, shop around for another burner.

Notice how Kprobe is used to evaluate burn quality and the
compatibility of your brands of media versus drive type. You
can waste the better part of a week, buying and testing sample
packs of media. Expect to spend more on sample media, than
you paid for the drive :-( Update the firmware on the drive
before you start testing, as newer firmware will support more
media tags.

If you're getting burn failures on multiple brands and disks, I would
suspect your drive as the problem, or there is are many background processes
running.
