To recover .ppt lost (from .TMP) created after system hung

I was working on a Powerpoint 2000 file on my latop. Was
trying to save the file but it was hung on the process. I
lost my work but there was a file created by the name of
ppt5.tmp with the size of 23 MB.
I tried renaming the file to ppt5.ppt but I was not able
to open it. Is there any way so that I can restore the
file using the ppt5.tmp file?

Please help!!!

You can try opening a new presentation and then Insert/Slides/From File.
Navigate to that renamed TMP file and see if the slides will insert.

Open Office might be a good thing to try. There's a link to it in the
information on the link I just gave above.
