To John Spencer (MVP) re Merge Question

Hi John.

You answered the question below earlier and Id like to as you for more info.
I thought you might have stopped looking at the earlier thread. Ive already
found something called Microsoft Query, which is perhaps what you refer to.
But I cant get it to work using a parameter either.

I posted a question about this on the Word/Merge newsgroup but have been
told that MS Query doesnt work with Word. Im not sure that this is actually
correct.

Could you please expand on your reply and if you meant to suggest using MS
Query, have you any idea why my MS Query wont accept a parameter? I get a
message like A Parameter Cannot be Used With This Query, as soon as I
introduce the parameter and try to run it.

Thanks, JohnB

You can't use a parameter query from word mail merge.

You can apply criteria to a table or query (without parameters) from word.

SOrry, I can't really help you here. I think you may be better off asking the
question in a WORD forum. Since you seem to be trying to merge from WORD using
an Access database.

I've not had much experience running merges from Word and don't have the time at
present to investigate a solution for you.

Thanks John, I understand.

Ive actually now had a chance to discuss this in the Word forum. Also, Ive
seen a thread started by someone else asking exactly the same question.
Unfortunately it all comes to nothing - my questions are unanswered and the
other thread just fades out without a conclusion. Ive decided not to persue
this one, although I might just try contacting Microsoft out of interest.
Thanks again for your time, JohnB
