informative response. I ran SFC and this is what happened at the end:- 99%
complete. Windows Source Protection found some corrupt files but was unable
to fix some of them. Deatails are included in the CBS.Log
windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log for example c:\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.Log - now out of
all your instructions is there a particular 1 that I should head straight to,
to fix the problem? Once again Thank you in advance

That is the only thing I have *ever* seen SFC /SCANNOW say
after running it on a Vista machine. I think it's useless. Try
reading the log it points to- a bunch of otiose lines of gibberish.
