Tmpgenc

I bought Nero, but didn't open box yet. I see from recommendations here that
Tmpgenc is best for for converting DV-AVI files to MPEG2 for the DVD, right?
I have about 8 files to string together, which will fit on a DVD comfortably.
Will tmpgenc let me string them together into chapters? Or at least string
them together to play one after the other seemlessly?
Thank you so much!

have to somewhat disagree. Tmpenc does do a great job of converting your
files to mpg2 format, however when you are done all you have is an mpg2
file. Nerovision will take your DV-AVI file and convert to the proper
format as well as author a proper DVD including custom menu's chapters etc.
very customizeable and user friendly.

I agree completely.
Although I am not a fan of NVE if you already purchased that then by all
means open it up and use it.
TMPGenc does convert files to MPEG2, as KDE said, but doesn't create a
"proper" DVD, as KDE also said. There is a TMPGenc DVD Authoring program but
it is terribly hard and complex to use and not very reliable in my
experience with it.
