Combining audio and vidio

B

Bill Yates

Using MM2, I have created an AVI file through my Canopus
ADVC-100. Using TMPGEnc I have created a MPEG2 file.
Actually as suggested in the tutorial "Configuring TMPGEnc
for High-Quality DVD-compliant MPEG2" I created the ES
video only and just for fun, I also created the ES video
and audio files.

Although I currently have several DVD burning software
packages, I'm not sure how to burn a DVD and combine the
video and audio. In the case of the video only, where do I
even get the (uncompressed?) audio signal?

I also want to add chapters to my movies for ease in
locating selections. In what file format do I do this and
what software do I use? The Nero software has been
mentioned but I'm not sure which package is necessary as
I'm not into doing elaborate movie creation.

Hi there,

I too have an ADVC-100, and so far (still just learning)
it has performed as advertised... just curious how you
like yours (?)

As far as DVD authoring goes, I use ArcSoft's ShowBiz v2,
which allows you to easily import audio files and plop
them into either the left or right audio channels (these
are separate from the audio track of the video clip).

It also allows you to easily create "chapters", and you
can create an "into" track that runs when the DVD "boots"
so to speak -- e.g., I just used the into option on a DVD
of my daughter's figure skating videos (each chapter
contained one or more events from each competition), and
I took the "splash" frame for each of the competitions
and strung them together with some audio and
transitions).

The only problem I have is finding a TV-DVD player that
will accept the DVD format that I'm creating (!!!) --
such DVD's run just fine on PC's with DVD players, but,
so far, all I can get to run on my TV-DVD player is VCD's.

Don't you want to combine your titles, video and audio before
exporting them to your burner program?
