please is there an url that gives tips and tricks for basic vista , I have
seen an article whereas when you open a file in vista, it seems to treat one
as a an idiot and asks do you really want to do this (whatever)___somewhere
there is an option to get rid of this action_______hope I am making
sense__as I read this back it doesn't seem to intelligent______sorry !!

That is the UAC(user account control)
Go into control Panel, and turn it off!

To disable UAC prompts:
Run Regedit and navigate to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
Change the value of ConsentPromptBehaviorAdmin from "2" to "0".
