Abandonware and certainly nor tiny.

If the decision had been made to distribute it compressed (as is so
prevalent), then the executable's file size would be a lot smaller.
UPX'd renders it down to 235k.

I haven't used PFE extensively, but have noted it looks like a very
good environment for messing around with batches and "DOS" commands.

Side note: it also allows making macros, good if you have a regular
sequence of processing you want to do on files.

Interface, small tip: If you remove the toolbar, PTE's appearance is
a lot less homely.

The main shortcoming it has for me is that the document windows are not
in the tabbed interface. Tabs are standard these days, but back during
PFE's era of development, they were more of an exception.
