Timing issue?

Here's my situation:
Windows 2000 Server (latest sp)
Mixed environment (98SE, XP Pro, ME) desktops
Linksys router
Linksys switch
No DHCP by the router or the server. Static addresses.

PROBLEM:
From early a.m. to Late in the afternoon the network is fine. Then like
clock work, the desktops virtually can't access files from the server between
2pm and 3pm. A person opens a Word file and it literally take 3-5 minutes to
open. The same goes for saving to the server. If you reboot the desktop,
all is well. If you turn on your computer in the a.m. and leave for the day
without shutting it off, the next morning you will have the same problem
until you reboot it.

I'm assuming some sort of timing issue. The logon properties are 24/7 in
the server's user accounts. No timing issue established in the router. The
switch is not programmable.

Any thoughts?

Hi

Do you have any Backup Jobs or scheduled tasks that might be running in the
afternoon. What is your Anti-Virus set at. I highly doubt if a timing issue
will cause this issue. Best thing you can do is monitor you Memory Usage on
the client machine and the server.
