Timex Datalink 70 watch software

I have an old Timex Datalink watch (the 70 model).

I can't get the software to run fully under Win 95 Compatibility mode
(which is enabled) (it runs, but, it still tells me I need the special
adapter which I'd rather not buy).

I'm running Windows 2000, service pack 4.

Has anyone gotten the Datalink software to run and update the original
(70 model) watch, under Win2k? From fiddling around with the program,
it appears it would work with other later-model watches, just not my
original model.
