How do I convert 4:30 (hours:minutes) into numbers (4.5)
i.e.cell A1 =(4:30 HH:mins), cellA2 should automatically =
(4.5) for a series of calculations, any ideas there.

Tom,

Type the following formula into cell A2: =A1*24 and then ensure that the
format of A2 is number. Times in excel are treated as parts of days, so you
need to convert the time to hours by multiplying. If the format of A2 is not
"number" A2 will contain 12:00 (in your example), this will be corrected as
soon as the format is changed.
