Time to upgrade from Radeon 32 SDR on Athlon 900

My wife's PC (Athlon 900, Chaintech 7AJA, 512Mb RAM, Windows 98SE)
currently has a Radeon 32Mb SDR and is due a card upgrade - due to the
limits of her current pc and the type of games she plays (The Sims, Black
& White, Ghost Master, etc) we aren't looking for a top-of-the range
card.

Considering getting a Sapphire Radeon 9000Pro (64mb AGP DDR TVO VIVO
Retail) for £60 - would this be a suitable choice?

Also - her PC has Catalyst drivers installed (can't remember which
version but circa July this year) - with these drivers should windows
automatically detect the correct card after swapping them?

Thanks

With that PC... yes.. a 9000Pro will scale up nicely!

I guess the games will go a bit better that way to..... bit more
memory, faster card :)

Most likely not ... you'd be best to completely uninstall the Cat's before
you remove the old Radeon and put in the 9000. Win98 will probably pick the
new card up as nothing more than a "VGA Adapter" ... just click Cancel to
any Windoze boxes that want you to search or install new drivers, and then
install your Catalyst suite again ...

I suspect the Catalyst driver installation won't go smoothly. I got
errors last time I updated the drivers using the installation program and
had to go via the system devices update drivers route afterwards instead.

Thanks. Order is placed now - just over £60 inc p&p not a bad price.
Should be able to handle The Sims 2 well enough for my missus.
