My pc clock runs fast. If I update the time, it'll come come current, but i
at the end of the day it runsfast about ten minutes. Any suggestions?

Thanks, jerry

Update more often. Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient

In the right pane locate the SpecialPollInterval value. Double click it and select the Decimal radio button. Enter the number of seconds you'd like between each update. 60 = 1 minute, 3600 = 1 hour, etc.

Then open a Command Prompt window and enter:

NET STOP W32TIME

NET START W32TIME

Thanks for such a quick reply. I went to REGEDIt, but can onle get a as far
as HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ It stops there and
ther. I have XP media center.

Thanks, Jerry

Hmmmmmm, even limited users should be able to read the W32TIME subkey and its contents. Copy the following into Notepad and save it as a REG file. Then double click the file you saved. Answer yes to the import prompt. Watch for line wrapping in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE line......... This reg file sets the update to once an hour. After its imported run the NET STOP W32TIME and NET START W32TIME commands.

<---- copy below this line ------ >
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\TimeProviders\NtpClient]
"SpecialPollInterval"=dword:00000e10

Thanks again. i was having a bit of trouble executing your suggestion, so I
went to your website and found in "WIN XP Fixes": "Adjust Internet Time
Update Interval" and downloaded the ZIP file which enabled me to set the
time update intervals with this tool. looks good so far.

Thanks, Jerry
