Time problem

Asus A7M266. It's not keeping the right time. A few months ago I replaced
the battery and that seemed to fix it, but only two or three months later,
it's doing it again. Any suggestions? Is it the battery again? Is there
something that might be killing the batteries. Thanks.

The battery is only used to power the system clock when the AC power to
the computer is removed (the ATX standby power runs the clock even when
it is shut down). If it's losing time when it's still plugged in (or
when it's on), it's not the battery.

Clock drift while the system is running can be caused by certain
hardware drivers or other software that disables interrupts for too
long. I think certain virus scanners have been known to do this.
