Time-out POP3 Port 110 0x800CCC19 Error

I'm unable to receive messages in OE6. The message is: A time out occurred
while communicating with the server. Account xyz; server xyz; protocol POP3;
port 110; Secure(SSL):No; Error # 0x800CCC19. I'm awaiting response from my
antivirus provider, CA(Computer Associates). OE messages were fine until 1
week ago. I've accessed my remote mail site to delete messages prior to the
time of the initial problem. When I stop the request in OE for additional
time for my e-mail server to respond to the attempted connection, OE delivers
the same e-mail message that I've already deleted via the remote web mail
site.
Most forums seem to point to an antivirus problem, but no response yet.
Advice is appreciated.

Turn off the email scanning option in your antivirus program.

For Outlook Express support, you'll want to ask in the
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general newsgroup.

Since you're also using the web based newsreader rather than outlook
express, you might want to use
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
(or, since you're using Outlook Express for mail, look at the steps in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/newsgroups101.mspx for
how to set up OE to use the microsoft newsgroup server).
