Every day, multiple times daily, in no apparent pattern of activity and/or
specific software program use, I get this Microsoft Windows Error
Notification Popup:
" Time Executable has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will
close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
(button in Popup->) Close program "
Whenever I click on the Close program button within the Popup, nothing
crashes or shuts down, and I can resume whatever I was doing in whatever
program I was using. This happens many, many times during my PC use and
there is no apparent pattern I can discern to the activity I am doing nor the
programs I am using ... all are equally effected. I have run all system
diagnostics, I use Windows OneCare Live with AV scanning set to Daily, and
have run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware multiple times including immediately
after the Popup appears. Results=none ... no virus, no malware, nothing out
of order. Problem has been going on for weeks, even before I installed SP1.
My concern is that this indicates a much more significant problem with my
total system, plus it is an annoying pain in the butt. Any ideas on this or
suggestions for fixes? Thanks!

Your firewall settings probably need an exception added for the
time.windows.com server.

This is just some generic error message Vista generates when nothing
more specific can be offered to point to a actual cause. Annoying
isn't the half of it.

Have you gone to Control Panel, under Administrative to get to Event
Viewer and see if anything more is recorded? Look for both red and
yellow flagged warnings. If you find some, time to Google and see what
pops up. Chances are somebody else has experienced it. If there's
nothing related to this weird error message in the Event Logs there's
little you can do to run it down.

Has something to do with Time Scheduler, right? Go to Administrative Tools
in Control Panel Classic View and see if Time Scheduler has it. You could
just ignore it.
