Time & Date on Notepad

I tried the tip on Kelly's XP A-Z. It says open notepad, type .log then
close. The window pops up asking if the file should be saved. The tip
is silent on what to do here, if saved to what file name? Kelly?

Hi Gerald,

Open a new Notepad file. Type .LOG in caps and then hit enter. Save the
txt file with any name. Reopen the text file. Anything added and saved
will have the Time and Date added.

There is no mention in this support file of WinXP, and truly I cannot
get it to work. However F5 inserts the time and date stamp which I
didn't realize before. Thanks Ramesh.

No but it is in Notepad's help (Help - Help Topics - there's only 10 topics, it's the one with log in it not date or time) and it works here. First time I used it since Win 3.1.

I've attached mine. It already has two dates in it. When you read it it should have 3.

Yep, it works. I think I failed to use all caps before.
