tick

hi

sorry if this has been covered before..

How can insert/type a 'tick' mark into a cell? Sometimes I like want to
insert 2 (or more) ticks into a cell so what I really need is to insert the
mark using the keyboard.

I have tried insert/picture/shapes, insert/symbol but can't find it. The
closest I have come is to use insert/picture but this is obviously hopeless.

Anyone help?

Hi Elwyn!

First change the font using Format > Cells > Font and select Wingdings
from the drop down.

With the Numlock on:

Hold down Alt and type 0252. On releasing Alt it produces ü

An alternative is to change the font to Marlett and type lower case a.

Hi Bob & Norman

Many thanks for fast reply. I have at last found a tick!

Unfortunately I didn't quite give you the full story. The cells that I want
to use will contain a tick. a cross (x) or a question mark. Is there a
quicker way to use the fonts without changing them each time depending on
what I want to insert in the cell?

Sorry for giving only half the problem!

Hi Elwyn!

Unless you mark randomly (!!!) there is probably some logical basis for your
entering a tick, cross or question mark.

So my approach would be to replicate that logic in an IF function that
inserts the tick, cross or question mark.
