TI 4600 - can't play High res on Battlefied nor Raven Shield

D

Drew Orenyo

I have developed a problem. After installing a TI 4600
card - I have found that I am unable to play Battlefield
at a higher resolution then 800 x 600. When I set the
video to 1024 x 768 or higher on both the game and the PC -
the game basically locks up. I also have Raven Shield
which won't work at all on this system.

This doesn't happen on another system I have. Both
systems are AGP 4 compliant, both systems are on XP and
both systems have 512 meg or memory. The system that
doesn't work properly is a Gateway while the system that
works fine is a Compaq. Both systems are on the most up
to date version of XP and DirectX 9 as well the current
version of the Nvidia Driver.

I experience other display abnormalities on the Gateway
system with Photo Suite Platinum 4. So I know that it
isn't just the programs that are causing the problem.

Thanks,
Drew

If you haven't already, run the dxdiag D3D test. Just
type dxdiag in the RUN text box, select the DISPLAY tab,
and make sure all 3 of the directx features are enabled.
Now, you just click TEST DIRECT 3D & look for any error
messages to pop up. If you get no errors, check your
video settings and restore all to default Nvidia
settings. You might want to disable any refresh rate
tweaking utility. As far as BF1942, you can change a
video setting in the vide config file to allow for all
video settings. Follow this pathway:
<(Your)Battlefield 1942 directory > <Mods> <bf1942>
<settings> <VideoDefault.con (file)>. Change to line
"renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0" to read, (without the
quotes)
"renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1" So, just change the 0
to a 1. I don't have the other game so I can't help you
out there. Pay a visit the their website & check out the
support section. I can suggest a few hundred other
things to try, but my wrist is telling me it's break time.

GOOD LUCK!!!!
