I have a number of project directories, which contain
various video files, mpeg, avi, dixv etc. All but one
directory seem to be ok, but one directory is giving me a
small headache, in that whilst in thumbnail view, the
direcory listing crashes within 10 seconds of opening.
This directory has around 100 clips and is roughly 2Gb in
size. This is by no means the largest directory
containing video files. I get roughly half the files
showing the appropriate thumb view but the other half is
incomplete, showing only folder type icons.
I have tried recreating the directory, copying files to a
new dump area, deleting the dodgy directory, but find I
get the same result in the new directory.
I am vaguely sure that the error is probably down to a
corrupted video file which is not allowing a proper
database of file thumbs images to be generated, but am not
techie enough to figure out a less than painful solution.
I am contemplating loading the files 1 by 1 into the
directory, then viewing in windows explorer, thumb view,
in the hope that however the thumbs are generated and
stored might work.
Any other thoughts and suggestions are gratefully accepted.
