There are files called Thumbs.db in many of folders on my computer. I do not
recall creating such files. What are they?

Its a file which caches the view of images in "Thumbnails" view. You can
turn it off in Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, View tab. If you do, you'll
need to find and delete the files manually (if you want to) and Explorer
will have to scan the files each time you visit a folder in that view.

Let me be the first to stray OT ...

Is there a way to adjust the size of the thumbnails that Explorer
uses ? I find the default thumbnail size to be much too small
to have any value.

Yes you can do this with the Tweak UI power toy, under Explorer, Thumbnails.

I have had TweakUI installed for a long time
and there is no such option.

Adjusting the thumbnail size is trivial with XP -
is that what you are using ? As per the newsgroup
name, I was hoping to be able to do this in W2K.
