thumbnails in windows explorer

For years I have used the free Irfanview as my prefered imaging viewer. For
a year or two I have been able to set my Windows 2000 Explorer view to
"thumbnails" to get a quick overview of JPG format photos in any folder.
After doing some maintenance on my computer, I have lost the ability to see
thumbnail images. Now only the Irfanview Icon shows in place of the
thumbnail. I've been banging my head for the last day and a half looking for
the solution. So far I have only managed to hurt head. Anyone got any ideas
on how to enable the thumbnails again?

Solved.
Exported a good key from one image format, edited it in notepad, and
imported to replace the bad image format keys.
