Thumbnails don't display

Pegleg

Can't get thumbnalis to display in windows explorer (XP-Home, SP2) My
Pictures folder.

Select thumbnails from the view menu but the default icon for windows
fax and picture viewer remains displayed.instead of a thumbnail of the
actual picture.

Hi Pegleg,

See if this command helps, from Start/Run:

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

If not, you may have to inspect the file association settings.

Thanks...that corrected it...what's up with that...why weren't they
showing up?

Thanks again!

Glad that helped. No idea what caused this in the first place. This problem
occurs if the file associations are messed up, or if the thumbnail extractor
registration is missing. The command line fixes most of these settings
automatically.

Hey I remember now...sometime ago a vulnerability was reported for
Windows Fax & Picture viewer and the command to unregister it was
provided as a temporary fix until MS fixed the issue. I did that and
forgot to change it back after the fix came out!

Thanks again!

Nice! Thanks for the info. BTW, the WMF vulnerability was reported/fixed 9
months ago.
