Thumbnail view for video

I cannot see images in thumbnail view for video files in windows xp
professional which is the OS I am running on this computer. I'm not exactly
sure when it happened but up to a certain point I could see the thumbnails
for video and now I can see the old ones but a lot of videos I have now I
cannot.
