I am still at a loss as to how I change the option to be able to spell check
my emails

This slved my issue with spelling, but now I have another question..there
have been times when I was going too fast and mistakenly hit the "add" button
instead of "change" for a misspelled word. Is there a way to get into the
dictionary and delete the words I added incorrectly?

Thanks for the feedback, Laurie.

To know how to edit the custom spell check dictionary, see:

Re: Richard, "I have read your answers before..."

You need to be in the main menu of Windows mail in order to find the Options
in the Tools menu. You can not get to Options from the Tools menu within an
email message.

Just fixed my spell checker with your instructions...
Getting used to Vista on my new computer... I like the Vista OS OK, but not

The registry setting looks correct.

Alternately, you may use the following REG file to set the default spell check language:
http://www.winhelponline.com/fixes/spellchk_settings.reg

Download the file to Desktop. Right-click on the file and choose Merge. Click "Yes" to confirm. Note that this REG file does not bring back the language options in the "Spelling" tab dropdown box, but sets English as the default language. Let's know how this goes.

I've clicked on spelling and I don't get a drop down menu. I have checked
everywhere and don't see the options. I tried your following suggestion and
here's what's posted:

I tried Ramesh's suggestion below to no avail. In fact, no language drop down
appeared. Suggestions?

Can you list the relevant bug ID for this problem? I'm assuming it exists (or
I'm going to go create one). I'd like to track it. It's a very annoying bug
for a clean installation of your newest OS. I wish I'd seen and reported it
during beta.
