I am currently having three major problems:

1 When I am running 2 or 3 programs at a time especially adobe, word,
publisher or my email program, the curser changes to an hour glass and I
can't do anything as everything is frozen and I have to close the whole
computer down and re boot it.

2 Also I have a problem where I can be working on a document and the curser
will start moving by itself when I stop moving it wherever I have left it.
It does a big line of letters across the page - all the same letter. It's
quite spooky! I think this started after I installed a wireless mouse and
keyboard.

3 Suddenly a program will close all by itself! I may close down for
example publisher and my email program will close also or close adobe and all
the other open programs will close also!

So I have three problems I hope you can help me with

I have windows XP HOME EDITION, VERSION 2002 SERVICE PACK 2

I am running a lap top COMPAQ Presario 2100
Thank you

You didn't mention how much RAM your laptop has. If it has less than
512MB, you should probably increase it to 1GB, particularly if your
laptop uses shared video memory.

This problem can also be caused by having too many programs/processes
running in the background. You can troubleshoot this by:

1. First, always make sure your computer is virus/malware free:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

2. Make sure you've properly maintained your computer:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Maintenance

3. If the machine is virus/malware-free and you still have the issue,
then do clean-boot troubleshooting:

and How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP -

Here are some links where you can look up the items you find on the
msconfig Startup tab:

Put fresh batteries in the mouse and keyboard. Make sure you have
installed the latest drivers from the device mftr.

Go through the first troubleshooting steps I gave you.

Juelle, I use a free program called ccleaner you can get it from here
http://www.ccleaner.com Using the default settings it will delete all your
temp files and clean your system. It will help with problem 1 and possibly 3
for problem 2 if it is an optical mouse then try a different mouse pad, one
with a more dense, dark color to it made of fabric not those plastic types.

I agree with CCLEANER, also on the left side there is an option for issues,
run it, tell the PGM to SAVE the registry, save it to my documents folder,
then tell it to fix the issues.

Good Luck
