"This program is not responding..."

Using IE6 & XPHome. Recently when I click on a link on the home page of one
of my favorite websites (www.sportsline.com), the linked window opens to an
exceptionally large size (full screen wo/ususal toolbars), then hangs and
does not open. When I try to close this window I get an End Program popup
window that says "This program is not responding..." and when I End Now all
of my open windows close.

My temporary internet files are deleted and I am hoping someone smarter than
me can get me a fix for this.

Thanks in advance, Fran

More times than not, it is not usually the computer's
fault but that of the website calling for a plug-in,
including Javascript, Active-X controls, Macromedia
Flash, etc., that is not installed or loaded, and then
not proceeding (or timing-out) when the web routine is
not executed. No fix other than complain to the website
administrator.

If Ghostrider is right about plug-ins being the problem (I'm too newbie to know), you could try adding the site to Restricted Sites. This disables ActiveX, Java, and scripts. Open Control Panel, Internet Properties, Security tab, click Restricted sites, Sites... button, type http://www.sportsline.com/ into "Add this web site to the zone:", and click the Add button. The site will probably look terrible, but you should be able to see it
Hope this helps.
