When creating a movie - If I add fade out to a 15 minute portion the save
(DV-AVI on a 1.7 GHZ processor) takes about 60minutes. If I split that same
clip to 14.55 + 5 and apply the fade to the 5 second portion my save takes 4
minutes! I suspect (but haven't tested) that you only get this gain if no
other effects are added as it seems to be associated with the way effects
are processed in MM2, but for those using only simple fades this may make a
big difference.

Rob,

I apply fade in and out to all my clips so that when I compile them on a DVD
they will flow smoothly. I never know how many clips I'll have on a DVD. I'll
give it a shot in the future and see if it makes a difference. I hope you are
right. Thanks for the insight.
