I have a hp cordless optical mouse and sometimes I press two of the buttons
together or something and suddenly text is highlighted in whole paragraphs,
caps lock can't be removed or the function of the numbers lock and caps lock
reverses, the numbers don't work - everything screws up. I have to sit here
for 15 mins pressing all the buttons together until something reverts it to
normal. Anyone any idea what it is?
OS is XP Pro

suggestions:
1. run the program that controls settings for this device and see if
(for some strange reason) this is a configuration issue.
2. update the driver for the mouse ... from the install CD, or get new
one from www.hp.com
3. check if new batteries fix the problem. wireless mice are hard on
batteries.
