This device does not have the required performance...readyboost Q

Hey, I just bought a 4 gigabyte PNY attache thumb drive from Best Buy (it can
be seen in this week's Sunday ad.) Anyways, When I first plugged it in, and
clicked "speed up my system," it said this: This device does not have the
required performance characteristics for use in speeding up your system.

I formatted it, but it still didn't work.

I then thought it might be my drive, so I looked online. A website
confirmed that it would work (in addition to the label on the package saying
it was windows vista compatible.)

Any idea of how I can fix this? Thanks!

Vista compatible means, to me, that you can copy and read files from the
drive. That doesn't mean it will work with ReadyBoost.

SanDisk are now rating their drives as ReadyBoost Compatible where
appropriate- so there is NO question at all as to whether they will work, or
not.

That probably just means it'll show up as a drive letter under Vista, not
that it's fast enough to use for a ReadyBoost device.

Okay, sorry, I didn't mean for that to have much emphasis...i've looked on
other websites and read of how people were using the same kind to do this.
Is there something special I must do before? Thanks!

I've had the situation where a USB drive wouldn't work the first time I
tried it but later I went to try some setting changes and it just started
working on it's own. Make sure that under Properties for the drive, it is
set to optimize for performance and then have it test again.
