"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed"

Hi,
I have a PC with Win2K, SP4 e all the security patches from Microsoft
installed.
When I trie to install a softwate, that need Windows installer, I got an
error like "The Windows
Installer Service could not be accessed". I tried to stop the service,
delete and reinstall and nothing happens...
Any idea?

This may be because your software requires the newer installer.
Search microsoft downloads for Installer v2
