The Vista transition

Im using xp home sp2 now. my next desktop Im sure will have Vista.
OK, how frustrating will the transition be, if I want to use all the same
hardware and software that Im using now.

heres a list of my stuff.


alienware notebook area 51 7700
XP Home sp2
sonar 5.2 producer
2.9 gz 3 gigs ram 60 gig hard drive and
100 gig hard drive
my sonar bundle files are on a seperate hard drive
than the OS
alesis multi 8 firewire mixer
presonus fire box firewire audio card 4 ins 4 outs
(the alesis mixer has 8 virtual inputs going into computer
but only 1 stereo set output, the firebox has 4 in and 4 out)
KRK monitors self powered
toneworks pandora effects unit Im not using an amp when
away from home I use the pandora then into the audio card
BFD Acoustic drum kit 1.5
Triangle bass soft synth
les paul studio
Fender blue junior guitar amp
A low cost set of mics that use phantom power from MXL

Perhaps you should visit the your software & hardware sites and check for
compatibility/issues?

This is a question for people who've already done what you contemplate. IOW,
ask in a Vista newsgroup. You'll get more input.

Run the upgrade advisor. That will give some idea but it is not to be taken
as a guarantee, but heed the advice. It is not complete or always accurate.

Check on the web sites for the manufacturer's of the individual hardware
components for Vista compatibility and drivers. Check on the software
authors' web sites for compatibility and info on whether upgrades are
needed.

Note: there are Vista specific newsgroups. That would be the best place to
check on these issues.

Wait until Vista 2 before your buy your new desktop with Vista on it.
