think Linux is krap on a desktop or what?

Not at all. I'm sure those 95% you speak of haven't even tried Linux to
realize it is a far better o/s than Windoze. Then again, there are folks
that think a blinking 12:00 on their VCRs is the way those devices should
work.

As much as I love Fedora, none of the 6 vendors distros I've tried are
anywhere near as complete and workable as Windows XP, and none work with
as many apps that most home users run.

You're showing your true nature again.
