The System Tray Problem

There seems to be a documented issue with the sytem tray losing some icons
when Explorer crashes. In fact, some icons are lost without a crash. (I
don't mean that they aren't visible, where that just means that you have
to expand the tray to see them.) In some cases, when the icon is lost, so
is the functionality of the process it represents.

What I don't understand is why this happens to certain applications
repeatedly and not to others at all. Do certain application issues include
getting lost in the tray? Is there a way for the user to fix this? I have
tried systray fix, an MVP's offering, but it seems not to affect my
problem.

Try this, Stephan....... Right click on the Systray>Properties> at the
bottom of 1st tab, be sure that Hide Inactive Icons is NOT checked.

Task Manager / Hide when Minimized only sporadically displays in the system
tray; I know what you mean.

Haven't found a reliable fix for it yet! Tried just about all the fixes on
the web, from disabling UPnP to tweak utilities to registry hacks to VBScript
fixes.

Regardless of hidden icon settings...
