The server unexpectedly closed the connection !

Kirti

Hello Folks :
I am using FP 2003 with FP Extensions installed on the
hosting server.
Since I have just changed to a new computer and have been
trying to publish since 2 weeks now. After I click publish
selected files. If teh file is a small sixe like less than
100 KB it publishes OK. If teh File is about 1 MB then a
message box comes up and says "The server unexpectedly
closed the connection"
Thus I cannot publish multiple images or music clips.
Please help.
This problem has just started since I switched to a new
computer. Ther was no problems this way for atleast 2
years now.
Please Help and guide me as to what may be wrong !
Thanks !
Kirti

I had this same problem when I upgraded to XP Pro. It is not a FP issue but
rather an ISP problem. I am on dial up and my Internet Service Provider had
to install modem string that slowed down the upload. I still get bumped off
line every once in a while now when loading pages but not near like it was
before.

It is not your connection settings
It is a server issue on your host
Ask them if they will increase the max file size limit
If not, see http://www.spiderwebwoman.com/tutorials/error_1mb_files.htm

Check with your ISP. I found this the other day for AOL.

" You may have experienced some connection problems since installing
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. AOL and Microsoft have worked together
to create a quick, one-time update to improve your connection."

Ask you web host to review their server logs to tell you what they see as the problem.

Unless a web host has a external internet connection and can publish, they will never see these type
of problem via their internal network, unless their servers are really misconfigured.

Hello Thomas :
Yes the SBC Tahoo DSL folks ran a number of tests on teh
line as well as interner=t connection. The result was that
the lines and connection is Good.
So basically I have reached a dead end.
I went thru the Windows Temp folder and tried to locate
the .txt file but have not been able to pinpoint that
error file.
Thanks for your help .... !
Regards !

Stefan :
The hosting server folks say there is no size limit to
publish meaning I can publish as large of a file or
page
I want.

-----Original Message-----
It is not your connection settings
It is a server issue on your host
Ask them if they will increase the max file size limit
If not, see
