When i save a power point presentation and view it on another computer some
of the slides that have arrows on them don't line up? i've tried changing the
presentation to a slide show but the same thing happens?

Can you tell more about the PowerPoint versions that both the computers are
using:

1. PowerPoint Version
2. Windows Version (or is one of the computers using PowerPoint for Mac?)

In addtion to Geetesh's questions/suggestions, if you look at Replace Fonts,
do you have a question mark beside any of them? Replace Fonts is on the
Format menu in PPT 97-2003 and on the Home tab on the far right in PPT 2007.

Both computers are running windows XP and power point in office 2007? One of
the computers is a laptop and the other is a desktop. I've attached the
presentation for your review. The problem is the arrows do not line up on
both computers on the 4th or 5th page. Thank you for your help.

Make sure you have a Windows-certified local printer driver installed and
set as the default printer. This sounds weird, I know, but it often helps
with odd display problems.

To do so, follow the instructions here and use the same printer driver
that's used in this FAQ: How to install a local printer driver
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00605.htm

That said, I also asked a question about Replace Fonts. You have repeated
the same information in three response posts, but you've not addressed that
question. Here is my question again:

if you look at Replace Fonts, do you have a question mark beside any of
them? Replace Fonts is on the Format menu in PPT 97-2003 and on the Home tab
on the far right in PPT 2007.

However, now knowing that you are using PPT 2007 leads me to think that the
printer driver is the more likely fix for your issue. I would try that
first. If it works, then you can ignore my question about Replace Fonts.

As an aside, these discussion forums are public groups, manned by volunteers
like me and the community of readers at large. You can often get your
problems resolved here. But posting a reply here, like I did, is not an
invitation for you to email your issue to me. I don't mean to sound harsh,
but I volunteer my time here so that all may benefit from the exchange -- I
don't do free one-on-one technical support.

Sometimes someone will request that you email them for some reason or
another. I've often asked users to email a file to me because I've judged
that I need to see the file for some reason. (Then I report back to the
newsgroup with my findings.) But that's different than receiving an
unsolicited email out of the blue with a file attachment from someone I've
never heard of, you know?

You mentioned you were new to this forum, so I thought this information
might benefit you. Going off in a panic -- not answering questions posed to
you in response to your question and emailing files willy-nilly to
responders -- is not likely to get you a fix to your problem. Again, I'm
sorry if I sound harsh -- but I'm trying to help you understand the reality
of the situation.

First off let me say this, Thank you, again being new at this I did not
realize what is going, thank you for helping me understand the proto calls.

I made an error in reporting the problem, when I went to check the print
driver; I found the laptop is running Vista, not XP. The desk top is running
XP pro. The printers I’m using are on our network, but now I know they are
not the same.

My goal is to share the presentation with several folks, is there a way to
group the arrows and the words that describe the objects that would make them
independent of these other factors?

Different computers may effect the display effect of your
presentation. If you want to display as you original presentaion and
share it with your folks, you can thave a try to convert your
presentation to other formats, such as Flash with some 3rd party
tools, such as PPT2Flash (http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-

location.

If you still have difficulty in the presentation, drop me a line and

Good Luck!

As Echo has explained, install a local generic printer (driver) on both
machines. (Even if you don't have it attached to the PC.)

Thanks for understanding and taking it in the spirit it was intended!

So, now, back to your issue. :)

I don't think grouping will help here. You could try it, though -- select
all your objects and then hit Ctrl+G to group the items. If your text is in
what's known as "placeholders," though, you won't be able to group those.

The thing is, PowerPoint 2007 relies heavily on printer drivers when it
displays presentations. (That sounds weird, and I don't know why it works
that way, but it does.)

There's really no way to ensure your recipients who have PPT 2007 have
appropriate printer drivers installed. Hopefully they do, but there's just
no way to tell. Also hopefully -- if they are having odd display issues,
hopefully they've researched a little online and realized they need to
install a local Windows-certified printer driver. (The printer driver
requirement thing is just an ugly situation. A frustrating issue, for sure.)

You might want to consider saving your presentation as a 97-2003 format
file, and see if that helps the arrow display. This will probably make your
file quite a bit larger size, though, so it may be unwieldy to email, if
that's what you were intending.

You know, if the slide isn't animated, maybe saving it (or the pieces on it)
as an image would be a good solution. If you can post back and let us know
if it's animated or not, then we can address that.

file, and see if that helps the arrow display.

I made an error in reporting the problem, when I went to check the print

running
XP pro. The printers I’m using are on our network, but now I know they
are
not the same.

My goal is to share the presentation with several folks, is there a way to
group the arrows and the words that describe the objects that would make
them
independent of these other factors?

Make sure you have a Windows-certified local printer driver installed and
set as the default printer. This sounds weird, I know, but it often helps
with odd display problems.

To do so, follow the instructions here and use the same printer driver
that's used in this FAQ: How to install a local printer driver
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00605.htm

That said, I also asked a question about Replace Fonts. You have repeated
the same information in three response posts, but you've not addressed
that
question. Here is my question again:

if you look at Replace Fonts, do you have a question mark beside any of
them? Replace Fonts is on the Format menu in PPT 97-2003 and on the Home
tab
on the far right in PPT 2007.

However, now knowing that you are using PPT 2007 leads me to think that
the
printer driver is the more likely fix for your issue. I would try that
first. If it works, then you can ignore my question about Replace Fonts.

As an aside, these discussion forums are public groups, manned by
volunteers
like me and the community of readers at large. You can often get your
problems resolved here. But posting a reply here, like I did, is not an
invitation for you to email your issue to me. I don't mean to sound
harsh,
but I volunteer my time here so that all may benefit from the exchange --
I
don't do free one-on-one technical support.

Sometimes someone will request that you email them for some reason or
another. I've often asked users to email a file to me because I've judged
that I need to see the file for some reason. (Then I report back to the
newsgroup with my findings.) But that's different than receiving an
unsolicited email out of the blue with a file attachment from someone
I've
never heard of, you know?

You mentioned you were new to this forum, so I thought this information
might benefit you. Going off in a panic -- not answering questions posed
to
you in response to your question and emailing files willy-nilly to
responders -- is not likely to get you a fix to your problem. Again, I'm
sorry if I sound harsh -- but I'm trying to help you understand the
reality
of the situation.

I think it would probably be worth a shot converting to Flash, then. Just be
sure to test the various Flas-to-PPT converters on your presentation to
ensure that they do a good job converting yours. (Most of them have a trial
version.)

Thankx again, the presentation is animated. i tried saving it to 97-2003
format but the problem is still there. i did print the presentation to a
PDF
format and everything lines up, but it is not a presentation than. i did
install print driver (HP LaserJet 1100) on the laptop so it is the same as
my
desktop but did not help.

I received the following comments from someone else would you give me your
option please;

Different computers may effect the display effect of your
presentation. If you want to display as you original presentation and
share it with your folks, you can have a try to convert your
presentation to other formats, such as Flash with some 3rd party
tools, such as PPT2Flash (http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-
flash.html). Then you don't need worry about the change of element's
location.

I really appreciate your time, my thankx to everyone involved.

Thanks for understanding and taking it in the spirit it was intended!

So, now, back to your issue. :)

I don't think grouping will help here. You could try it, though -- select
all your objects and then hit Ctrl+G to group the items. If your text is
in
what's known as "placeholders," though, you won't be able to group those.

The thing is, PowerPoint 2007 relies heavily on printer drivers when it
displays presentations. (That sounds weird, and I don't know why it works
that way, but it does.)

There's really no way to ensure your recipients who have PPT 2007 have
appropriate printer drivers installed. Hopefully they do, but there's
just
no way to tell. Also hopefully -- if they are having odd display issues,
hopefully they've researched a little online and realized they need to
install a local Windows-certified printer driver. (The printer driver
requirement thing is just an ugly situation. A frustrating issue, for
sure.)

You might want to consider saving your presentation as a 97-2003 format
