"The page cannot be displayed" error

Hi,
when I try to explore pages with SSL, like MS passport, I receive a blank
page with "The page cannot be displayed" message. What is the problem? The OS
is Win XP sp2 (with 883939 fix). Thanks.

I have same problem with some secure sites -- but not all of them. I am also
blocked from going to what I would consider normal pages. This started
happening early this week. I've spent two hours looking for solutions. I
turned off my Spy Sweeper and no change.

IE 6.0, SP2; XP SP2; up-to-date on all critical patches (think one of them
caused this problem)

The problem is usually caused by firewalls.
Tutorials on configuring the following firewalls:
eTrust Personal Firewall,
McAfee personal firewall plus,
Norton Internet Security Personal Firewall,
Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2006 Personal Firewall, and
ZoneAlarm are at http://www.leeindy.com/firewalls.shtml

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 443.
Go to Start | Run and enter these commans (press <Enter after each one).

Frank,
Thanks for this. I used the 870700 and did all the steps and one or the
combination got rid of my problem (mostly -- when I get the error now, I can
hit refresh and the page loaded properly. When I get more time, I will
troubleshoot some more).

An occasional "page cannot be found or displayed" but it works on refresh is
unavoidable, given the nature of the Internet and servers.

Thanks for your support but, although I had executed all the steps of the
870700
document, the problem already persist (on every SSL pages).
