Recently, the My Documents folder appears on the Windows desktop right after
startup. How can I get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Arlene,

The Windows NT key in the registry is also present in WINXP, as it is an
NT-based operating system. Did you attempt to do the registry edit even
though you believed it was only for NT and not for XP? If not, please try it
and see if it resolves the problem.

Regards,

I went into the registry, but these keys are not there.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Dlder
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\games\ClickTillUWin

I get as far as
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ and the
keys are (Default), iTunesHelper, KernelFaultCheck, pccguide.exe, QuickTime
Task, Sis KHooker, Sis Tray, SoundMan, SunJavaUpdateSched, and TkBellExe.
There is a subdirectory below this named OptionalComponents.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\games\ClickTillUWin, I get only as far as
the Software directory--no games directory is present.

Okay, good. It looks like you do not have the DlDer trojan.

Did you try the other registry edit?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
in right-hand pane, locate and double-click on Userinit
in the Value data field, it should read:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,

If the value is different, edit the value so that it only says:
C:\Windows\System32\Userinit.exe,

Click on OK, then close the registry editor.

Regards,
