Hi,

I have had a problem with Outlook for the last few days. If I try to
reply, forward or start a new message an error pops up saying "The
messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, please restart Outlook". I have obviously restarted Outlook
many times and restarted the computer repeatedly too.

I've run Windows Update and found nothing new that needs to be
downloaded and the rest of my computer appears to be working fine.

I'm running Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 on Windows Vista Home
Premium.

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

I got the same message and turned off exchange cached mode and it worked
after rebooting. Could have been a corrupted pst?

Any ideas - so far Vista and Office 2007 is a dissapointment as crashes are
fiarly regular (but this is a new issue after patching i assume).

PSTs aren't involved with Cached Exchange mode. OSTs are. Did you delete
the OST and see if Outlook would rebuild it?

hiya - slight variation on a theme. we're running office 2007 on top of
windows xp. i've got a user that experiences the following:

When he opens a shared calendar in Outlook, he gets an error: "The messaging
interface has returned an unknow error. If problem persists please restart
outlook. " This happens intermittently and will happen after he
has opened the calendar.

and no, he doesn't have the google toolbar loaded. we are working in cache
mode, but he was reimaged last week. his ost is less than a week old. any
help would be appreciated. thanks tons. -kk

There's a non-public hotfix available! I found this link while
searching for the solution:
http://www.itexperience.net/2008/03...lem-persists-restart-outlook-in-outlook-2007/

It also fixes some other problems, like the Windows Desktop
notification window popping up, even if you chose not to display it
again.

Regards,

Cis
