I am trying to setup a new server (without using migration). Starting from
scratch, I have installed Win 2003 Enterprise successfully and now trying to
copy all of the user profiles (roaming), user home and redirected folder
information - from the old Windows 2000 SBS server to the new Windows 2003
Enterprise server.
All seems to have worked correctly - meaning when I log on with a test
client, the user's desktop (without background) and connection to the server
works.
My problem is looking at MY Documents (for each test user) and seeing if
they are redirected from the copied Home folder to the Desk Top My
Documents as a redirection to the Home folder. They are not! They are being
converted in the local C: drive standard location for My Documents.
Reviewing this problem, I do not know whether this has happened, due to my
not setting up a Group Policy for redirection or whether it is the way I am
trying to do a conversion.
I know that some of the applications will not work and I contribute that to
my using a different registry on the test client, than the one on the User's
client computer.
My next step is to create a Group Policy on the server and setup the
redirection - to see if that is the problem.
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
Thx ahead.
