The installation was not successful

I have a desktop computer which has over 100GB hard drive (C and D
combined... C holds 15gb and D holds 92gb). The drives are supposed to act
as one, like a raid.
I currently have Windows XP home edition.

I have been trying to upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium. The
installation looks like it completed but at the final restart, it says
"installation was no sucessful" and undoes all the changes and goes back to
Windows XP. I formatted the D drive to place windows on there but nothing. I
tried to place it on C drive and I get the same thing with everything I do.

Any suggestions?

playeryou're not the only one having trouble. I have a brand new computer
(purchased jan 30) with 320 GB HD and tried to upgrade to the Ultimate. I
does the same thing you describe. Microsoft will not help. They say it's a
gateway problem. Since I have a gateway computer, they wouldn't help either
saying it's a microsoft problem. Neither will take responsibility and help
or fix the problem. My vista prem os is brand new, OEM and still doesn't
work. It freezes up all the time, moviemaker previews the movies in an "all
green format" printer drivers will no longer work, (hp photosmart) now it
turns out today I can't even open up my e-mail. For some reason it started
blocking my e-mail. I can't reply, forward, compose or open my mail. I
haven't even begun to try any of the other programs because the compter
freezes up, just the ones I've already tried, dvd maker, media player, movie
maker have constantly stopped responding. Vista is junk and if I could get
my money back, I would.
