The icons in my start menu are gone

Hi,

Some of my icons have disappeared. It started with the ones in that
little toolbar you can put immediately to the right of the start menu.
I think first was AIM, then iTunes and Firefox followed suit and
disappeared. All of the icons in my start menu turned into the unknown
program/EXE icon (the white box). I restarted and now my AIM and
Firefox icons are in the toolbar but iTunes is a no, and the icons for
the most currently used programs that you see when you click start are
all gone, yet they're all there when you go to "All programs." Anyone
know what's wrong?

Right click on the Taskbar -> Toolbars -> choose (Quicklaunch is the
most common)

Have you dragged the width of the toolbar too short - toolbars in the
Taskbar can be shortened and lengthened by clicking and dragging the
end markers

Icons appear in that toolbars in the alpha name of the program

To add an icon to the toolbar, click and drag it from the desktp (To
add an icon to the desktop, right click on the Start menu icon, choose
Send To -> Desktop - then drag it onto the toolbar)

Download PowerToys for XP from Microsoft web site. Install the TweakUI
program -> Repair -> choose Rebuild Icons from the available list.
