The icons don't show up after looging on to a user

My sister had windows xp service pack1, tried to download service pack2 bt in
the middle of downloading it stopped with an error which I don't remember.
Now when I try to restart and log on to a user, it just shows up the
wallpaper without any icons and system tray, I just can use task manager and
shutdown or restart. How can I see the icons and system menus?

Thank you , but I can't do right click, you mean I have to hit ctrl+_del+alt
then go to new task and type ixplorer.exe then when the desktop windows
shows up, I can use right click, right?
