The contents of my inbox are not viewable

I'm connected to an exchange server using Outlook 2003. If I click on my
inbox, it is empty in the preview pane. If I receive a new e-mail message, I
get a notification in my system tray, but the inbox does not display any
messages, and does not display a (1) next to it. The other folders within my
inbox still contain messages, and I can view them, it's just the root inbox
folder that's giving me problems. I'm not sure what's going on, and I'm not
finding much help in the knowledgebase. I don't have any filters set, and I
am not using a pst file. The messages have not been moved anywhere within my
inbox, as a search turns up nothing. I also cannot see them if I log into
Exchange Web Access. M

See what happens when you click View>Arrange By>Current View>Customize

I tried that one, and that didn't help. I ended up restoring the messages to
the exchange server from a tape backup. I have no idea where they went.
